Tek-ko-kui
Tek-ko-kui, the 'bamboo pole ghost' of Taiwanese folklore, is said to haunt bamboo groves at dusk, bending a bamboo culm under tension and letting it snap to strike and kill those who pass. Stories place it near the former Kawabata Bridge in Taipei as well as in Yonghe and Chiayi. The legend is used to explain the dangers of dense bamboo forests.
