Thaman Kyah is the weretiger of Burmese folklore, a human who takes tiger form, gaining the beast's strength and stealth in jungles and remote villages. Predatory and secretive, it hunts by night and can only be unmasked by exposure of its true identity, after which its power fails. The figure reflects fear of hidden predators and human duality, a common Southeast Asian weretiger theme.
