Three Sisters
The Three Sisters are the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) story of corn, beans and squash as three sisters who refuse to be parted. Grown together, the corn gives the beans a pole to climb, the beans feed the soil, and the squash's broad leaves shade it — a planting that nourishes and sustains life; if separated they weaken, and in one telling must be rescued from an evil captor.
