Thunder Beings
The Cherokee Thunder Beings (Aniyvdaqualosgi) are sky warriors who command thunder, lightning and life-giving rain and protect people from evil spirits. Though sometimes shown as giant birds, they are usually human in form, the children of Selu the corn mother; in some versions sons of the Great Buzzard, they shaped the mountains while the world was young.
