Tlanuwa
The Tlanuwa are giant Cherokee birds with feathers hard as metal, nesting on remote mountain cliffs where they carried off large prey, even whales in some tellings, and deflected arrows with their impenetrable plumage. Medicine men sought their feathers for power; only the great serpent Uktena could rival them, and the two were ancient enemies.
