Trickster
Saynday, 'Old Uncle' of the Kiowa, is the great trickster of the southern plains: a crafty old man who stole the sun to warm the world and outwitted famine, flood and enemies with his schemes. In 'Saynday and Smallpox' he was himself tricked, failing to halt the disease that swept his people — a tale of cleverness meeting its limit.
