The Trollkona is a specialized variant of the troll, possessing a mastery of 'dark craft' (svartkonst) that far exceeds that of the common troll. While typical trolls rely on brute strength, the Trollkona uses illusions, potions, and psychological manipulation to achieve her goals. She is often the matriarch of a troll clan, acting as the strategist and healer. In Swedish folklore, she is a complex figure—sometimes a cruel witch who steals children, and other times a reluctant mentor to humans who seek to learn the secrets of the earth
