Tseiqami (Thunderbird)

spirit-animal · United States · North America

Tseiqami is the Thunderbird of Kwakwaka'wakw mythology, the man who came from the cedar tree, lord of the winter dance season: a vast supernatural bird whose wing-beats make thunder and whose eyes flash lightning, hunting whales and helping ancestral heroes raise the great cedar house beams. His younger brother is Kolus; his adversary is the undersea chief Komokwa, also called Qaniqilak.
