Tsukumogami
Tsukumogami are Japanese yōkai born from discarded household objects — combs, umbrellas, teapots, or lanterns — that gain sentience after roughly a hundred years of service. Cast-off tools take animal or human forms and turn mischievous or vengeful toward neglectful owners. On Setasubun, the eve of the spring equinox, households sweep out old implements and burn them before they can awaken.
