Tunda

shapeshifter · Ecuador · South America

La Tunda is an Afro-Colombian/Afro-Ecuadorian shapeshifting spirit from the Pacific coastal region (Chocó, Esmeraldas). She mimics loved ones to lure victims into the forest, feeding them shrimp to induce entundamiento (docile stupor). Her disguise is flawed: she always has a wooden leg shaped like a molinillo (chocolate whisk).
