Turquoise Boy
Turquoise Boy is a figure in Navajo tradition who agreed to become the Sun. When the Holy People planned the creation of the Sun and Moon, Turquoise Boy volunteered but demanded payment: the lives of all beings on earth. First Man heated turquoise on a buckskin with Black God's fire and Turquoise Boy entered it, becoming the Sun (Jóhonaa'éí, "The One Who Rules the Day").
