Turtle Deity of Choctaw
Not attested: the Choctaw record no turtle deity. Their emergence from Nanih Waiya, the Mother Mound, involves a cave and grasshoppers, and their water spirits are Okwa Naholo ('white people of the water') and the horned serpent Sinti lapitta. 'Turtle Island' appears in one recorded migration story only as a name for the continent.
