Turtle Nature-Spirit of Inuit
Not attested as a nature spirit in Inuit mythology: no turtle spirit appears in documented Inuit cosmology, which centers on figures like Sedna, the tuurngait and the Inua of sea mammals. Turtles were so rare in Arctic waters that a Baffin Island Inuit song-story records the leatherback turtle as a rare delicacy, and a Cape Dorset soapstone carving served as a training aid for young hunters.
