Tusse
Tusse (also Tuss): a troll/vätte variant of Halland, Småland, and Västergötland. A shaggy trickster that leads travelers astray — 'tussen har lett honom vilse' — it is more mischievous than evil, unlike the malevolent Puke. It repays porridge offerings: a bowl under a 'tusse-sten'; if eaten, the farm was protected, if not, trouble. The name survives in place names, from Old Norse þurs (giant).
