Tzitzimimeh
AZTEC STAR DEMONS — terrifying skeletal female deities who were enemies of the sun itself, poised to descend from the heavens and devour humanity during solar eclipses. In Aztec cosmology, the Tzitzimimeh were star spirits associated with darkness, infertility, and the chaotic forces that threatened cosmic order. They were led by the goddess Tlaitecuhtli (or sometimes Citlalicue) and were particularly feared during solar eclipses, when it was believed the demons would descend to earth to consume humans — especially children. Pregnant women were at particular risk, as the Tzitzimimeh were said
