The Huay Chivo, 'sorcerer goat' in Yucatec Maya (waay, 'sorcerer'; chivo, 'goat'), is a shapeshifting sorcerer of the Yucatán who becomes a black goat with burning red eyes. He haunts roads and villages at night, raiding milk, harming livestock, and frightening travelers, and his presence is blamed for sudden illness and misfortune. He links closely to chupacabras and nahual traditions.
