Unkulunkulu
Unkulunkulu ('Old Old One') is the supreme creator god and first ancestor of the Zulu people. He emerged from the primordial reed Uthlanga, bringing humanity, cattle, and all life into existence. He created the sun and moon by flinging fire and a glowing stone into the sky, and established death when the slow chameleon lost the race against the swift lizard carrying the message of immortality. Unkulunkulu is a distant, deistic creator who set the world in motion then withdrew, leaving the ancestors (amadlozi) as intermediaries
