Upiór
Upir is an archaic Slavic term for a vampire or revenant, documented in early Polish and Russian written sources and possibly the origin of the word vampire in European languages. The upir is the dead who returns to harm kin and livestock, and folk tradition prescribed ritual safeguards at burial, including stakes and protective grain.
