Upior
Upior (upiór) is the Polish name for a Slavic vampire, the restless dead who rises from the grave at night to drain the blood of the living. The term entered Slavic tradition early and is likely the root of the modern word vampire; folk remedies included decapitation, staking, poppy seeds in the coffin, and burial face down.
