Verdalsdraugen (the Verdal Draug) is a sea draug specific to the Verdal area at the northern end of the Trondheimsfjord. The draug is a malevolent undead being from Norwegian folklore, and the Verdalsdraugen is a localized version haunting the Verdal coast and the lower reaches of the Verdalselva river. According to local tradition, the Verdalsdraugen is the ghost of a drowned fisherman who now appears to warn of approaching storms and shipwrecks.
