Vetala
Vetala (Sanskrit: वेताल) are corpse-inhabiting spirits in Hindu mythology who animate dead bodies (often feet-forward) and dwell in cremation grounds and tamarind/baobab trees. They possess uncanny knowledge of past, present, and future, and delight in riddles. The Vetala Panchavimshati features King Vikramaditya capturing a vetala who tells stories ending in riddles.
