Vila is a spirit from Slavic mythology. They are described as eternally young maidens with pale cheeks, long flowing hair, dressed in white, with invisible wings enabling them to fly through the air. There are three kinds: land and forest Vile (zagorkinje/pozemne vile), water nymphs (brodarice/povodne vile), and cloud spirits (vile oblakinje). In Montenegro's rugged mountain landscape, Vile are particularly associated with mountain peaks, springs, and forests.
