Vinmara
Vinmara (also called Ro-Lei) is a sky maiden from Vanuatu mythology, particularly in the Banks Islands. According to legend, Qat discovered a group of sky maidens who had removed their wings to bathe. He buried one pair of wings, forcing Vinmara to remain behind on earth. She became Qat's wife and was called Ro-Lei. They lived happily until Qat's mother reproached her daughter-in-law, making her cry. Vinmara's tears washed away the earth covering her wings; she put them on and flew back to the sky. When Qat tried to follow, he fell to his death. Vinmara represents the swan maiden archetype fou
