Wagyl (also spelled Waugal or Wogal) is the Rainbow Serpent creator being in the mythology of the Noongar people of southwestern Australia. According to Dreamtime stories, Wagyl emerged from the ground and traveled across the land, creating the Swan River, the Avon River, and many other waterways of the southwest. As Wagyl moved, his twisting body carved out riverbeds, and where he rested, waterholes and lakes formed.
