Warlock (Loup-Garou)
The loup-garou is the werewolf of French and French-Canadian tradition: a person cursed — often for missing Easter communion seven years running — to become a wolf by night. The curse is broken by drawing blood or by three years of abstinence. The French-Canadian loup-garou, called 'warlock' in some sources, reflects religious guilt, distinct from the Native American skinwalker.
