Watchman (Tupi)
The Tupi-Guarani forest watchman is Curupira, guardian of the hunt: a red-haired, boy-like being with backward feet and a piercing whistle who defends trees and animals. He misleads hunters who take more than they need, making them lose their way in the deep woods, and punishes those who wound or fell without respect. He is Brazilian in origin, so the Mexico placement is an error.
