Water Dragon (Olmec)
The Olmec Dragon, reconstructed by archaeologist Karl Taube, is a composite water-and-earth deity blending caiman, eagle, jaguar, serpent and human features, with flame-like eyebrows and distinctive L-shaped or trough eyes. Carved at La Venta and San Lorenzo, it is among Mesoamerica's oldest dragon-like beings and foreshadows later Maya and central Mexican dragon and rain deities.
