Water Spirits
Water spirits form one of the oldest and widest classes of Native American belief in the United States, though no single being bears the plain name 'water spirit.' Each nation has its own: the horned Underwater Panther of the Great Lakes and East, the water babies of the Great Basin, and the Okwa Naholo of the Choctaw. They guard waters, reward respect, and drown those who defy them.
