Wee-Willie-Winkle
Wee Willie Winkie is a Scottish nursery rhyme character created by poet William Miller in 1841 ('Whistle-Binkie: Stories for the Fireside'), not a folkloric fairy. The rhyme personifies sleep: 'Wee Willie Winkie rins through the toon... Tirlin' at the window... Are the weans in their bed, for it's now ten o'clock?' It became a bedtime entity alongside the Sandman and Scandinavian Ole Lukøje.
