Whale Guardian of Maliseet
Not independently attested as a whale 'guardian' in Maliseet folklore. Whales do appear in Maliseet stories: in 'Turtle Gets a Whale,' Glooscap directs the boastful Turtle to haul a whale ashore for a feast, and the whale's weight presses the overreaching Turtle down until the other animals cut him free. Whales figure as hunted food and wonders of the sea, not protective guardian spirits.
