Whale Water-Spirit of Maliseet
Not independently attested as a whale water-spirit in Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) tradition. The whale appears as a great sea creature of the coast, a source of food and a test of strength: in 'Turtle Gets a Whale,' Glooscap has the boastful Turtle haul a whale to camp, where its bulk crushes him until the other animals cut it free. Whale tales teach humility, not a whale-spirit guardian.
