Wildcat Animal-Spirit of Cree
The closest attested Cree wildcat being is Mishipizhiw, the Great Lynx or underwater panther, a powerful water monster of Cree and Algonquian tradition who lives in deep lakes and rapids and drags people underwater. It is drawn with catlike features, horns, and a scaly, serpentine body. For the Cree the wildcat of the spirit world is this dangerous water being, not a forest guardian.
