Wildcat Guardian of Kwakiutl
Not independently attested as a wildcat guardian in Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) tradition. The Kwakwaka'wakw of the Northwest Coast have no wildcat guardian figure; their important crests and ancestors include the wolf, raven, killer whale, and bear. In one account the ancestors removed their wolf masks and became human, tying wolf, not wildcat, to origins and chiefly power.
