Wildcat Nature-Spirit of Ojibwe

nature-spirit · Canada · North America

The Ojibwe wildcat spirit is Bizhiw, the lynx of Anishinaabe tradition, known across Ojibwe communities in both the United States and Canada. The lynx is the totem of the Lynx Clan and appears as the great underwater lynx, a mighty being of deep lakes who clashes with the Thunderbirds and draws swimmers down. As a nature-spirit it embodies both clan kinship and the dangers of northern waters.
