Wohpekumen
Wohpekumeu is the trickster-transformer and culture hero of the Yurok people of northwestern California, sometimes called 'the Widower.' In Yurok mythology he is a shapeshifter who attempts both beneficial and foolish deeds, helping shape the world and teaching people how to live. His exploits balance comedy with the ordering of the world, and he is among the best-known Yurok figures.
