Wolf Ancestor-Spirit of Blackfoot
Wolves are central to Blackfoot (Siksika) tradition on both sides of the Canada-United States border. The Wolf Man story tells of a man saved from his murderous wives and adopted as a brother by wolves, and Blackfoot people call the Milky Way the Wolf Trail, the road wolves follow toward the spirit world. Wolves appear as rescuers and guides in the star legends of the Blackfoot's orphaned heroes.
