Wolf Trickster (Mapuche)

trickster · Myanmar · Southeast Asia

Not attested in Mapuche mythology: the Mapuche trickster is the fox (ngürü), whose deceitful adventures fill a large cycle of tales, while no wolf-trickster figure exists. Mapuche tradition includes wekufe, harmful shapeshifting spirits, and the punalka, a wolf-like night creature, but neither functions as a trickster. The record also misplaces this South American figure in Myanmar.
