Wulver
The Wulver (or wullver) is a wolf-headed, man-bodied being of Shetland folklore, a solitary fisherman who lived in a cave dug into a hillside, fished from a rock in deep water known as the 'Wulver's Stane', and was said to leave fish on the windowsills of poor families. It is a benign and permanently wolf-headed figure, never a shape-shifting werewolf. Source caution: no Shetland wolf-man is recorded before Jessie Saxby described the creature in 'Shetland Traditional Lore' (1933), and the Shetland Museum and Archives has argued she invented it from a misreading of Jakobsen's place-names Wolvhu
