Xolotl
Xolotl is the Aztec god of fire, lightning, twins, monsters, death, and the evening star, twin of Quetzalcoatl. Dog-headed, he guides the souls of the dead through the underworld as a psychopomp and escorts the sun to its nightly doom. Fleeing the gods who sought to sacrifice him, he hid as the axolotl salamander, which bears his name.
