Yacumama
Yacumama (Quechua: 'mother of water') is an enormous Amazonian serpent spirit, mother of all aquatic life, dwelling in rivers and lakes. She sucks in any living thing within 100 paces; Indigenous boatmen blow conch horns to reveal her presence. Documented across the upper Amazon (Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil).
