Yagwanggwi
Yagwanggwi (야광귀, 'night-light ghost') is a Korean folk spirit said to appear on the night of lunar New Year's Eve (seotdal geumeum), stealing people's shoes or sandals while they sleep. Documented by the National Folk Museum of Korea, the tradition holds that hanging a sieve or mesh by the door keeps the ghost away, because it stops to count the holes and is delayed until dawn.
