Yamawaro
Yamawaro (山童) is a kappa-like mountain yōkai of western Japan, especially Kyūshū and the Chūgoku region, appearing as a small, hairy, childlike figure with a round head and sometimes a water dish on its crown. It is said to descend to rivers in spring and become a river kappa. It helps woodcutters haul logs when given rice cakes, and plays harmless tricks when gifts are withheld.
