Yamm is the Canaanite-Phoenician god of the sea, rivers, and primordial chaos. As the deity representing the untamed and destructive power of the Mediterranean, Yamm was especially significant to the maritime Phoenicians of Lebanon's coastal cities. Depicted as consistently tyrannical and angry, he was the brother of Mot and the son of El, the supreme god.
