Yuki-onna
Yuki-onna (雪女), the snow woman, is a yōkai of Japanese winter folklore: a beautiful, pale-skinned woman with long black hair and a white or blue kimono who appears in snowstorms. She lures travelers into the cold and freezes them with her breath, yet sometimes spares those who are brave, kind, or handsome. Lafcadio Hearn's retelling in Kwaidan, published in 1904, made her internationally famous.
