Not independently attested as a distinct figure of Nenets folklore. No source confirms ice spirits called 'Yul-Chyn' who strangle travelers; Nenets animism records numerous tundra and river spirits, but none by this name appear in ethnographic literature. The traits recorded appear to derive from modern speculation.
