Zanahary
Zanahary is the supreme sky creator god in Malagasy mythology, the source of all life and spirit. In the creation myth shared across Madagascar, Zanahary and the earth god Ratovantany collaborated to create humanity. Ratovantany shaped physical bodies from clay, but they remained lifeless until Zanahary breathed souls into them from the sky. Upon death, the soul returns to Zanahary in the heavens while the body returns to Ratovantany in the earth. This division underpins the deep Malagasy reverence for ancestors (Razana), who dwell near Zanahary and serve as intermediaries between the living a
