Zmora
Zmora is a Slavic night demon of Polish folklore, akin to the mare or mara. It is believed to visit sleepers at night, pressing on their chests and causing choking, nightmares, and a heavy feeling upon waking. Zmora were thought to be spirits of the dead or, in some regions, living people whose souls left their bodies at night to torment others.
