Bunad
The festive national costume of Norway, sewn from wool in patterns that vary by district, with embroidery, silver brooches, and distinct headwear. Modern bunads grew out of the folk dress of the 18th and 19th centuries and were revived and standardized in the 20th as a symbol of national identity. Hundreds of regional variants are worn at holidays, weddings, and Constitution Day.
