Butterfly Jigha
The butterfly jigha is a jewel-set turban ornament of Mughal court fashion, shaped as a butterfly with wings that tremble on a spring as the wearer moves, pinned to the front of the turban by princes, nobles and high officials. Such ornaments are shown in Mughal miniature painting and in later court portraiture of the Deccan and the regions that became Pakistan, where the jigha, sarpesh and other turban jewels marked rank and the favour of the ruler.
