Cifraszűr
The cifraszűr is the decorated shepherd's cloak of the Hungarian Great Plain, a knee-length mantle of white felt cut from a single piece, split down the middle so the wearer can slip it over the shoulders and pin it under the chin. Its name pairs szűr, the plain cloak of Hungarian herdsmen, with cifra, 'ornamented', and indeed the best cifraszűr covers the felt with black, red and green wool applique arranged in rosettes, tulips, fringes and braided borders.
